PAVEMENT guitarist and PRESTON SCHOOL OF INDUSTRY main man Scott Kannberg returns under the guise of SPIRAL STAIRS for his solo debut; a heart-on-sleeve (and occasionally tongue-in-cheek) song-cycle about his complicated personal life. "The Real Feel" was recorded in Australia with a diverse crew of talented people (Ian Moore plus members of THE POSIES and GERSEY, amongst others) and mixed in Seattle with John Auer (The Posies, BIG STAR). Kannberg maintains his trademark melodic whoops and FLYING NUN guitar licks, but overlays a layer of melancholy and wisdom, as well as a touch of Peter Green blues. Alert listeners may also spot Richard Thompson, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART and THE DIED PRETTY.
