DAVID KARSTEN DANIELS' first widely available record, and his debut for FATCAT, marks the arrival of a fresh and potent talent, an album as ambitious as it is accomplished. This North Carolina-based songwriter has created richly orchestrated songs, where his voice & guitar are the foundation, are fleshed out by 19 musicians & at least as many instruments. An easy comparison is SUFJAN STEVENS "Illinoise" album - it shares it's complex but carefully used arrangements and heartfelt songwriting - but with songs like "Jesus & The Devil", Daniels seems happier in darker corners.
