'Takes' is a phenomenal collection of specially chosen covers during the formative years between 1991 and 2001 while Adem was growing up and includes covers of Bjork, Smashing Pumpkins and Yo La Tengo through to Tortoise and Aphex Twin. As further proof of his labour of love, Adem personally produced and played every instrument himself. Adem has been playing these seriously wonderful stripped down and raw versions of other's songs in his live shows for some time now and was constantly asked by fans for recordings of the tracks. At the start of 2007, he headed into the studio to document his interpretations, with the aim of capturing the simplicity and atmosphere of the versions he had been performing.
