Cave was said to be ‘unhappy’ with this album - although whether this is his present position, one dare not assume. In any case, it’s hard to see what Nick didn’t like about this most amazing work. With The Mercy Seat, Deanna and the track inspired by Blind Willie Johnson song of the same name, City Of Refuge, it sounds like indispensable Bad Seeds to us.
