After relocating to London, Sydney's REKINDLE began to create a sound that drew on his primal. Upon meeting Trevor "PLAYGROUP" Jackson, he was soon signed up to his OUTPUT label, releasing the cool and catchy pop single "Ice Skating Girl". The track appeared on the label's "Channel 2? compilation, alongside uber-cool artists LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, THE RAPTURE, COLDER and BLACK STROBE. The "Ice Skating Girl" single immediately sold out and was a hit with London's style magazine scene and underground music bloggers alike. Shortly afterwards, Rekindle started his own label called PUREHEARTS. He formed an alliance with Japanese label RALLYE, who responded to hearing Rekindle's tracks by immediately starting a new imprint called KLEE, "in order to introduce any radical artists and bands in the world to Japan". The Klee label has progressed to be the Japanese home for artists such as THE KLAXONS, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO and Sweden's LOWFI FINK. Distilling his own idiosyncratic form of cohesion from influences as disparate as TIMBALAND and RACY, SIMPLE MINDS and MTUME, PRINCE and THE J. GILES BAND - Rekindle unleashes a future classic of pop funk heaterz; whimsical and arcane artrock; ethereal and elegant digital ballads; and non-conformist aural fairy floss; all delivered with a grand sense of occasion and a radicalised dedication to traditional showmanship.
