Los Angeles based dark-rock group, I Am Ghost, return with their much anticipated sophomore album, Those We Leave Behind, on October 4th. Recorded with producer Paul Leavitt (Senses Fail, The Bled, Circa Survive) in Baltimore, MD, Those We Leave Behind contains fourteen turbulent tracks of brooding passion-fueled rock infused with monstrously accessible hooks. After a lineup change in late 2007, Steve Juliano (vocals) along with Timoteo Rosales III (guitars), Ron Ficarro (bass) and Justin McCarthy (drums) have re-focused the band's direction, returning to the powerful raw rock that inspired them to make music in the first place. The resulting album, Those We Leave Behind, seamlessly melds elements of metal, melodic-hardcore and screamo with sweeping sing-along choruses to startling effect. Blending fantasy and reality in his twisted tales of death and tragedy, Juliano seems to revel in showing the world's beauty in decay on songs like the massive anthem "Don't Wake Up," the ode to the fallen "Those We Leave Behind" and the heart wrenching tale of "The Saddest Story Never Told." Those We Leave Behind is a sonic stake in the heart of safe, conformist music, defiantly confirming I Am Ghost's place among the scenes most elite bands.

We Are All From Somewhere Else $27.99 (AUD) | Plot Against Common Sense, The (Vinyl) $24.99 (AUD) Future Of The Left have become the stuff of legend for their unrelenting live shows, packed with ferocious energy and intensity. With the release of two studio albums 'Curses' and 'Travels With Myself and Another', the band has treated us to a perfect cocktail of intensity and irreverence. And now it's time for round three. The Plot Against Common Sense is 49.8 minutes of singing, shouting, slinking, smashing and (at times) sobbing. Initially as a bet, the band originally conceived the record as a Broadway musical based on the recent British phone-hacking scandal but were forced to abandon this idea due to budgetary restrictions. This is not a joke. After writing hundreds of songs fifteen were recorded and placed into an order deliberately selected to exhibit the full dynamic range of the experience, a gift which will be lost to anybody who regularly utilitises the shuffle function on their mp3 player. | $28.99 (AUD) | $10.99 (AUD) Melbourne instrumental four-piece Margins present their second full-length album, Divide. Following from 2008's acclaimed self-titled debut, Divide sees the band continue to enact a spacious and sublime style of instrumentation. Having honed their live performances accompanying an eclectic range of projected films; from Jess Franco to Return of the Jedi, Margins embrace subtlety and restraint as their modus operandi, challenging assumptions that a band must near explode to make an impact. |
