Eagle and the Worm - Too Young (7" Single) Is it possible that Eagle and the Worm are maturing at such a young age?!? Not exactly. Like "Futureman" and "All I Know", The 60s and 70s influences that EATW love, are all over "Too Young". Here we have Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" recreated in style.

Is it possible that Eagle and the Worm are maturing at such a young age?!? Not exactly. Like "Futureman" and "All I Know", The 60s and 70s influences that EATW love, are all over "Too Young". Here we have Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" recreated in style. "Too Young" shares the lyrical palate and arrangement motifs of the great Brian Wilson:- an ode to pop music of the 60's. It is the attention to detail in arrangement, lyrical structure, and production of "Too Young", that tips the hat to the Brian Wilson sound. Jarrad spends the three verses of Too Young cascading through melodies in his best choir girl voice yet, musing about being jacked off with being a musician, with no cash, no respect et ... but essentially deciding not to get a day job JUST YET as he explains he is "Too young to let it go"...A relevant statement for any young musician finding their feet. Jarrad explains "This song almost didn't see the light of day! I hedged my bets. The same time I wrote this song, I went back to UNI to get a real job. I couldn't do both- So I stuck with the song sentiment- Quit UNI, and got on with recording the album". "Too Young" - the latest and greatest single, from "Good Times". Pull out your record player - it's going to be out on vinyl!. B Side, "Young and Free", has been written specifically to complement "Too Young". Here, Jarrad has fun with a loose percussive arrangement built around his drifting half drone/half singing to awesome effect when the song finally kicks in with real melody and motion. All kinds of references here - Stones, Sgt Peppers, Beach boys again. Clever use of melody and a cool lyrical refrain "these are some of the things that I know longer think, but they are things I remember from when I was young and free" make "Young and Free" easy to hum along to. Like "Too Young", this song has the kind of arrangement that grows around your ears with a few listens. "Young and Free" is a great way to round off a true A Side B Side release. And, good enough to find it's way on to the A Side down the track.
