The new album from Brighton's Kraut/funk/electronica heroes Fujiya & Miyagi will leave you foaming at the mouth. 'Ventriloquizzing' is the band's fourth full-lengther, and was inspired by ventriloquist's dummies. 'Ventriloquizzing' marks the first time the band - comprising David Best, Stephen Lewis, Matthew Hainsby and Lee Adams - have worked with a coproducer, in Thom Monahan, whose previous credits include groundbreaking folk albums from Devendra Banhart, The Silver Jews and Vetiver. This album, finds Fujiya & Miyagi returning with a renewed sense of purpose. But they haven't gone folky, and nor has the California sun injected Surf City spirit - this album finds them moodier, darker and deeper than ever before. 'Ventriloquizzing' is forceful, aggressive and confrontational, but all the while maintaining the taut, minimalistic funk and dark humour that's become their calling card.
