World-renowned cellist Li-Wei Qin navigates the Beethoven Cello Sonatas with marvelous technique and displays a sensitive tone that defines his charisma. He becomes the first Chinese cellist to record the complete sonatas under a major label since Yo-Yo Ma. Li-Wei Qin has established a formidable reputation on the international concert scene as a cellist of intense musicality and virtuoso prowess. Born in Shanghai, Li-Wei moved to Australia at the age of 13. In 2002 he received the Young Australian of the Year Award. His recordings for ABC Classics have been highly acclaimed as have his performances with all the major Australian orchestras as well as internationally, where he has also appeared at the BBC Proms. His latest recording, that of the five magnificent Cello Sonatas of Beethoven, staple repertoire for any great cellist, appears on Decca, with pianist Albert Tiu.
