The Sydney Symphony pays tribute to one of Australia's most illustrious composers and performers, Brett Dean, with a new CD of his works performed and recorded by the Sydney Symphony and released on their own label exclusively available through Fuse Music. The CD features Dean's 'Viola Concerto' (with the composer as soloist) and other works for which he has received widespread acclaim including 'Komarov's Fall' and 'Twelve Angry Men' for 12 cellos. Dean is regarded as one of Australia's stand-out musicians, having won numerous awards including the 2006 Paul Lowin Orchestral Prize for his Viola Concerto. His clarinet concerto 'Ariel's Music' was a prize winner at the 1999 UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in Paris. The CD is handsomely packaged in a digipak with a 16 page booklet, and is the first of a full schedule of Sydney Symphony releases planned for 2008.
