Nonesuch Records presents the latest release from the ever-popular &revered Kronos Quartet, entitled "Floodplain". This new album contains newworks written for Kronos by composers from Palestine and Serbia, traditionalworks from Lebanon, Turkey, and Iran, contemporary interpretations of theclassical music of Azerbaijan and India, and popular music from 1940s Egypt,and 1970s Iraq. Over the course of more than three decades, San Francisco's Kronos Quartethas commissioned more than 600 new works, performed thousands ofconcerts world wide, released more than 50 recordings, and collaboratedwith dozens of artists. Working with composers from nearly every corner of theglobe, Kronos has literally created a new repertoire for string quartet.
