More live than the first show

Tim Chambers on 13.06.2011

The audio was much better than the first video “The Show”. Singing seemed live and not an overdub. You hear more sibilance and breath noises that should be there in a live vocal with a bit more atmosphere and feeling. I was still disappointed with some aspects. The inside cover was so low-res (printing error) that the text was unreadable and looked like a bootlegged copy. Some drumming was disappointingly looked a bit fake; partly digital or pre-recorded. No criticism of Damian who can’t stop growing up, no longer a boy but not yet a man. He has obviously grown up since the last video and this shows in his vocal range and song selection. He was able to reach down further but was not pushing his upper register. Move forward a few years more and this will have settled enough to reach the highs without it breaking up (avoided on the video by limiting upper range).

Voyage

$24.99 (AUD)

2012 release from the Irish male vocal ensemble. Voyage explores all aspects of Irish music and song. The solo performances are equally wonderful and showcase the musical talent of the six soloists (13 year old Daniel Furlong has joined the group as a guest artist for this recording). Voyage depicts the journey of musical development that each soloist has undertaken since the beginning of Celtic Thunder four years ago. It is also the first Celtic Thunder show where all of the artists play different instruments. Keith Harkin plays guitar on his original song 'All Day Long', George and Neil also play guitar on 'Cat's In The Cradle' and 'Past The Point Of Rescue' while Ryan and Emmet pick up the tin whistle and fiddle during the ensemble rendition of 'Galway Girl'.

Act Two

$19.99 (AUD)

Celtic Thunder Two includes an eclectic mix of songs ranging from the Moody Blues classic Nights In White Satin, Paul McCartney's Mull Of Kintyre to the classic Danny Boy.

Overture and beginners please... Strike up the band... Stand by for Celtic Thunder... and It s Entertainment . This stylish and high energy trip through some of the great songs of the last 30 years is pure showbiz! It is a tribute from Celtic Thunder to the legacy they have inherited from the great entertainers of the past, and a mark of how far they themselves have travelled as performers, in a few short years.
