It's the Swinging Sixties. Hugh Lunn is 23, has a great job as a reporter and the car to match, a Sunbeam Alpine. But he has lost his love. His Wimbledon tennis mate Fletch has an idea: 'Hong Kong is full of girlfriends! Let's go to the Orient!' So they go. But living it up in nightclubs isn't enough. On the eve of the Cultural Revolution, Hugh falls in love all over again and blunders into forbidden Red China using his translated name, 'Dragon on a Pillar'. Armed only with Banjo Paterson ballads and rosy cheeks, he soon learnes that life is not all cricket and cheongsams.
