Texan alt-country, troubadour MICAH P. HINSON returns with an all new double-album, 'All Dressed Up And Smelling Of Strangers' on POD - an album consisting entirely of covers. The first volume will feature what Micah describes as "quieter, calmer songs" from the likes of BOB DYLAN, LEONARD COHEN, JOHN DENVER and FRANK SINATRA. The second volume is "louder and loaded with many more instruments", and features renditions of ELVIS, ROY ORBISON, BUDDY HOLLY, THE BEATLES, LEADBELLY and PATSY CLINE! The treatment in each case is not reverential, but loving, and unique to Micah and his distinct Texan burr. Originally toying with numerous concepts and themes (songs from Texas, songs from the States and more), Hinson decided to keep the song choices simple. "The theme is that they all mean something to me; whether that be in the past or present. I feel very moved by songs and music of other men and women, it's gotten me through many a hard time, so it made sense to find those songs and attempt to pull them off." Micah has lived through teenage painkiller addiction, forays into crime, a stint in jail, bankruptcy and homelessness. Despite debuting to acclaim in 2004 (Uncut, Time Out, and Rough Trade's Best Albums Of 2004 polls) his career was nearly cut short in 2005, when a freak back-injury led to chronic pain and impaired his ability to tour. With a gritty, country-noir style reminiscent of BONNIE "PRINCE" BILLY and JASON MOLINA, "All Dressed Up And Smelling Of Strangers" is simply unforgettable.
