Raven presents for the first time on CD two original, outstanding albums by BOBBY BARE - Cowboys and Daddys (1975) and Me and McDill (1977). Bare is one of the greats of "Outlaw" country, having scored million-selling hits in the 1960s with the likes of 'Detroit City' and '500 Miles Away from Home'. By the mid-1970s he was attracting rock audiences as well as country, following a number of freewheeling and rollicking collaborations with songwriter Shel Silverstein. Bare dedicated Cowboys and Daddys to the modern-day cowboy, "the Ropers and Dopers, the Red Neck Mothers, the Cosmics, the Drinkers and Thinkers and all the other Bi-Centennial cowboys". Highlights included the bittersweet title cut, Tom T. Hall's 'The Cowboy and the Poet (Faster Horses)' and Ray Hubbard's 'Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother'. For Me and McDill, Bare cut eleven songs by prolific hit making songwriter Bob McDill, including 'If You Think I'mCrazy Now (You Should Have Seen Me When I Was a Kid)' and 'Look Who I'm Cheating on Tonight'. This great value 2-for-1 collection adds two bonus tracks from the Bare / Silverstein collaborative concept album Lullabys, Legends and Lies, including the #1 hit 'Marie Laveau'. Featuring superb quality audio, colour booklet and informative liner notes.
