The Eighteenth Day Of May formed a couple years ago. The six members' shared love of the English folk music of Shirley Collins and Martin Carthy, the West Coast pop of The Charlatans and The Byrds and the psychedelia of Spacemen 3 and The Brian Jonestown Massacre results in music with a twisted beauty, not to mention some of the trippiest murder ballads you'll ever hear. Their debut release, a limited-edition double A-side seven-inch single that coupled 'The Highest Tree' and 'Sir Casey Jones', was released in June 2005 to rapturous reviews in NME and on various websites. The two songs also found their way on to the airwaves thanks to John Kennedy at XFM and Sean Rowley at BBC London 94.9.
