Posthumous album from the iconic Australian guitarist, whose passing on March 27, was deeply felt by the Australian and international rock and blues communites. Peter’s work with Rose Tattoo led to him often being named ’the greatest Australian slide guitarist of all-time.’
Blues Hangover was a part time outfit Peter and his regular music partner, pianist Lucy De Soto, formed a decade ago with longtime friend Dave Hogan and Ken Farmer of Melbourne’s Paramount Trio. This third and final album from the band was recorded in December 2005, just before Peter entered the final stages of the cancer that took his life. It’s raw gut bucket blues – bot for the faint-hearted. Peter loved the recording and was keen to see it released in his lifetime – sadly this release comes a couple of months too late.
Vocalist on a number of the album’s tracks, Dave Hogan, last year won the Melbourne Blues Society’s Vocalist of the Year Award. He’s a regular on the blues scene with his band Dave Hogan’s Meltdown, and is a former member of the Paramount Trio and Southern Lightning.
