Marcus Miller was born in Brooklyn in 1959 and grew up in a musical family in Jamaica, New York. He had an extraordinarily strong interest in all kinds of music. When he was thirteen he could play several instruments: clarinet, piano and bass guitar, and he had started composing.His favourite was the bass guitar, and at the age of fifteen he was already working regularly with different bands in New York City. In 1981 he got together with Miles Davis, his childhood idol, and went on tour with the legendary jazz trumpeter. In 1986, Marcus Miller worked with Miles Davis again to produce the legendary Tutu, the first of three albums that he produced for Miles Davis. After spending many years as a producer and session musician, Marcus Miller began his solo career late in 1993.The Ohne Filter - Musik Pur performance took place in 1994. He was accompanied by Poogie Bell (drums), Kenny Garrett (saxophone), Morris Pleasure (keyboards), Michael "Patches" Stewart (trumpet) and Bernard Wright (keyboards).
