During the 1970's Larry Jon was an outlaw's outlaw, a renegade's renegade. Ask the Nashville hip to name their favourite singer/songwriter and Larry Jon's name is always near the top of the list. Willie Nelson, Kristofferson, John Prine, Guy Clark, Steve Earle; Larry Jon fans one and all. Some of you may recall him as one of the featured artists on the brilliant outlaw country DVD and CD 'Heartworn Highways', that featured Larry Jon, Steve Young, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, etc. The early 1970's was a golden period for alternative Nashville singer/songwriters; great records appeared almost weekly, but Larry Jon was still held high - Rolling Stone called him "The next big one." John Hammond, legendary A & R man for Columbia Records, the man who discovered Billie Holliday and Bob Dylan, said, "He's the most exciting thing I've seen in twenty years." And now, finally, he's back..recorded in one week on the Florida coast, stories bled into songs, songs faded into lengthy memories. All the tracks are first and only takes. The tape was kept rolling while Larry Jon did things his way. 'LARRY JON WILSON' is his first album in 28 years. He made it because he wanted to. No outward pressures, no contracts to fulfill, this is as honest as it comes and it's also some of the best country soul you'll have heard since the 70s.
