Rounder Records is pleased to announce the release of George Thorogood and the Destroyers' Live in Boston 1982. Recorded at the Bradford Ballroom (now the Royale Nightclub) in Boston on November 23, 1982, the concert captures the band at a remarkable high point - hot off a tour in which they opened for their heroes, the Rolling Stones. Over the years the band has released several live albums, but none of them capture the energy of their live performance as perfectly as this - tearing through songs (many that haven't appeared on their other live albums) by Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, and Elmore James as well as originals by George himself. Live in Boston 1982 features some classics, such as "Move It On Over" and a 13 minute version of John Lee Hooker's "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" as well as Elmore James' "Can't Stop Lovin'." It also ends with the energetic "Nobody But Me" by the Isley Brothers, which Thorogood learned from a 1968 cover by garage-rockers the Human Beinz.Recorded by Montreal company Le Mobile, the tapes were all but forgotten in Rounder's vaults until Scott Billington, Rounder vice-president of A&R, and producer/engineer Paul Q. Kolderie started rummaging through 100 hours of live tapes by the Destroyers. The Bradford Ballroom show jumped out at them, especially the astonishingly good sound quality. Billington states, "When you hear this concert, there is no mystery as to why these guys became so popular."
