Beloved Chicago bluesman EDDY "THE CHIEF" CLEARWATER is an acknowledged master of the West Side school of blues that spawned Magic Sam, Otis Rush and Luther Allison. He was the winner of the Blues Foundation's Blues Music Award for "Contemporary Blues - Male Artist Of The Year" in 2001 and his last release, 2003's Rock 'N' Roll City (with Los Straightjackets) was nominated for a Grammy. Now teamed with the blues and roots marketing power of Alligator Records, Eddy and his new release, WEST SIDE STRUT, are due to reach his biggest audience yet. Alligator publicity can't wait to get to work in support of this record by a legendary performer who has garnered previous features and/or reviews in USA TODAY, BILLBOARD, BLUES REVUE, VINTAGE GUITAR, CHICAGO MAGAZINE, PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, MINNEAPOLIS STAR-TRIBUNE, PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE and many more. Eddy is known worldwide as a charismatic, consummate blues showman. Between his full Indian head dress, slashing, left-handed guitar work, deft mix of blues 'n' roots styles and boundless energy, he's been the crowd-pleasing life of the party at gigs all over the globe. Eddy has performed extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan. Eddy Clearwater tour dates in support of WEST SIDE STRUT begin in mid-March. The Alligator publicity and radio departments will be working the dates hard, setting up interviews and features along the way. WEST SIDE STRUT is a typically energetic Eddy Clearwater mix of edgy West Side blues and fiery old school rock. The record gets a contemporary spark from producer Ronnie Baker Brooks (son of Chicago blues icon Lonnie Brooks), who also lays down some sparkling guitar work. Featured guests include Lonnie Brooks and fellow Chicago blues and soul legends Jimmy Johnson and Otis Clay. The star of the disc is definitely Eddy, though, as his stinging guitar playing and rough-hewn vocals lead the way.
