Freerange Records is one of the UK's finest purveyors of electronic music & home to to artists like Jimpster, Switch, Kirk Degiorgio & Trevor Loveys. Freerange has, over it's 10 year life span, continued to build a solid reputation and loyal fan base seeing it blossom into what many consider to be one of the most consistent and interesting UK based labels. This is the first Jimpster (aka Jamie O'Dell) album on Freerange and his first since 2003's Domestic Science on Kudos. It features several guest vocalists including Capitol A (previously collaborated with the Roots / Jazzanova/ Ben Mono / Mark de Clive Lowe), Alexander East who appeared on Phonique's labum and Detroit based Diamondancer who works with the cr me de la cr me of the Detroit scene. Amour contains some of Jimpsters best work to date and goes right across the board from blissed out downtempo ambience through to deep, minimal house & jazzy beats .. and everything in between From the chilled opening barstill the close refrains, Jimpster's first album for Freerange envelopes the senses with its hypnotic rhythms and downbeat melodies. With a handful of beautiful vocal cuts peppered amongst the verdant, instrumental soundscape, you'd be forgiven for thinking he'd unearthed rare soul gems from the 70s and merely added drum loops. Capitol A's rhymes on the downbeat piano-kissed 'Left And Right' sound like Roy Ayers-meets-Guru's Jazzmatazz.
