Label boss Ellen Allien presents volume 4 of BPitch Controls excellent Boogy Bytes series. Allien's mix follows on from her Fabric mix of 2007 & previous efforts from Bpitch Control label mates Kiki, Sascha Funke and Modeselektor. Like those volumes, her mix is firmly planted in the club as she mingles glitchy breakbeats with elegant poppy vocals and elements of the experimental underground with twitches of electro and deep techno basslines. Allien mixes up her favourite tracks from Ricardo Villalobos, Melchior Productions and Gaiser as well as newcomers Melon and Lucio Aquilina in between more kooky selections such as a spoken word intro from Berlin spoken poet AGF and the ballad Twice from Swedish indie-pop quartet Little Dragon. The cover of the CD is another head-turning snap by photographer Axl Jansen as part of his "shaky heads" series.
