Thibaut Berland AKA Breakbot is the latest artist to gear up for an album release on the prolific label Ed Banger Records, which is also the home to artists like Justice, Mr. Oizo & Sebastian. Breakbot's music consists of deliciously, nu-disco inspired funk that oozes cool in a way that only the French know how to pull off.Initially making a name for himself in 2006 with a remix of Justice's Let There Be Light, Breakbot made his production debut the following year with the Happy Rabbit EP. In the meantime, he was also busy establishing himself as an in-demand remixer, working on tracks by Digitalism, Sebastien Tellier, Ryksopp, PNAU and many others.September 21st will see the release of his highly anticipated debut album By Your Side which although features remnants of the "Ed Banger sound", stylistically manages to uniquely set itself astray from the main artists of the group by using a fluid combination of other intricate sounds & influences. Crammed with soulful, robo-disco and emotive ballads, By Your Side conjures up the ghosts of the Doobie Brothers, Todd Rundgren and Hall and Oates, as well as the nostalgic TV themes to 'Silver Spoons' or 'Punky Brewster'.
