Ford & Lopatin is the new project from Daniel Ford (Oneohtrix Point Never) and Joel Ford (Tigercity), and the first release on Software, an offshoot of Kemado (home of The Sword, Beach House, No Joy and more. Initially called Games, the duo gained a fair amount of heat in the US before having to change their name, allegedly due to pressure from hip-hop superstar The Game. Mixed by Prefuse 73, "Channel Pressure" was recorded in the studio of Jan Hammer (of Miami Vice theme fame). Some of Hammer's 80s vibes definitely creeped into F&L's heads, encouraging them to make this bizarre yet surprisingly accessible record.
