With their self-titled debut, THE HUNDRED IN THE HANDS (Jason Friedman & Eleanore Everdell) have created an album that is equal parts mutant disco, 80's pop queen and Ye Ye girl. Epic vocals & lavish synths-both full & flirty, desperate & demanding-belie a naturalism that's intensified & offset by pounding bass lines, programmed beats & swerving guitars. The duo trade menacing metallic, razor sharp turns, assembling towering melodies atop pulsing rhythms. With a brassy carnality, the record veers from Disco dazed, avant-pop to teenage angst, boredom & pop heartache soaring harmonies and Siouxsie-esque yelps. Post-R&B spin into mind-bending mash-ups of skuzzy rock riffs & obliterated beats. The Hundred In The Hands was born from a mutual love of early hip hop, French house & disco, ska & dub, post-punk, British invasion-mod & girl pop from the 60's through the 80's & decided to form a band.
