The Menahan Street Band is a collaboration of musicians from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, the Budos Band, Antibalas & Mighty Imperials, brought together by musician/producer Tommy "TNT" Brenneck, (best known, perhaps, as the tall, lanky, charismatic guitarist for The Dap-Kings, Budos Band and Amy Winehouse) and recorded in his Menahan St. apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This album is a bright and intoxicating collection of instrumental funk and soul, effortlessly enveloping itself in the "Daptone sound" Brenneck has helped to make flourish but also stretching itself out amiably into new territories, including Afrobeat, Ethio-jazz, rocksteady and film scores.
