With the outstanding success of the two first, mixing compilations from JAZZANOVA and Ame, Sonar Kollektiv had to find an artist that couldbring something special to the series and they found the right one in the person of DENNIS Mc FARLANE a.k.a DEGO of 4HERO. With his partner MARK CLAIR a.k.a. MARC MAC they made a huge contribution to dance culture. In more than 20 years they released six albums and set up five different labels. They were the most suited artists to bring something new to the series and Sonar Kollektiv is happy to let Dego teach us a lesson of soul music history for the third instalment of the mixing compilation series. From new to old Dego teaches us that black soul music constantly innovates without forgetting its roots. The history of Black music is living and always in the making and there's nothing better than this compilation to prove it.

From the first track, the ominous, bass-heavy Safe From Harm, to the insouciant British rapping on Five Man Army and title track Blue Lines, through the album's best-known track, the stone-cold classic Unfinished Sympathy, to Horace Andy and Neneh Cherry's sweet vocals on album closer Hymn Of The Big Wheel and the album's iconic sleeve (which was designed by the band's D), Blue Lines perfectly distilled all the band's influences into a unique sound and aesthetic that redefined the musical landscape, not
