Instead of taking the easy road and making an album by sampling other people's records, Pritchard and Brinkworth pay their dues by brilliantly capturing the vintage and dynamic of the records they love, making the songs from scratch at their opulent Presshouse studios, based down in Devon. This stunning, professional collection of recordings features the duo playing live on vintage synthesizers such as the moog and the mellotron as well as drums, percussion and piano, with some guest bass and double bass players. In an ingenious endeavor to capture the mood of the recording in living stereo, any sampled instruments were played live and then expertly recorded, allowing the natural atmosphere of the studio to seep in and lend the compositions a layer of warm, dusty depth that today's modern recording techniques sometimes sacrifice.
