Maayan Nidam aka Miss-Fitz has been spinning and producing music since 1999. Her releases onRaum Musik, Freak n' Chic FR, Circus Company and other labels, had been remixed by RicardoVillalobos, Jeff Samuel, Ryan Crosson, Mossa, Pheek, Spasm & more. Powershovelaudio -which was started by camera company Superheadz- has paired world-famousphotographers with a wide variety of musicians in the past. Here, they've matched Nidam with Cubanphotographer Moriyama Daido, and enlisted the producer to arrange a host of source material thatwas recorded in Cuba by representatives of the label. Maayan has inexplicably, quickly and with incredible precision captured the essence and theexpressivity of the Cuban musicians and taken it to a hitherto unknown place. Instead of concentrating in her signature minimal beats, Maayan has experimented with differentcadences, depths and moods, leaving behind her swirl a disconcerting record of inspired beauty. The result is Night Long through which voices, woodwinds and brass are all filtered through Nidam'ssoftware: 'Dime si eres tu' is a downtempo number that slides along, while 'Milagro' sounds like NorahJones meets German experimentalist Jan Jelinek.
