Known for genius compilation series, such as 'The Breaks', 'Pulp Fusion', 'I'm A Good Woman', and myriad others, the UK's Harmless label always utilised the finest DJ/crate-digger/compilers to create some of the most loved compilations of retro funk, soul, and latin music available. The label's brand new nice price series dedicated to old-school grooves, 'Backbeats', caters for the novice and collector alike, using only the full original 12" or album versions from the original artists. 'Saturday House Fever: 90s Garage Anthems' is a more contemporary exploration of groove in the series, covering the fertile area of early dance music that was '90s garage, and includes classic cuts like Gary Vonquest's "Victim Of Love", Debbie Pender's "Movin' On", Kathy Brown's "Happy People", Extortion's "How Do You see Me Now?" and Alexander Hope's "Saturdays". 12 long-play cuts in all and more than enough for an extended Saturday night jam. The record was compiled and annotated lovingly by Ian Dewhirst - a veteran DJ and producer perhaps best known as the creator and compiler of the seminal 'Mastercuts' series
