The latest album from hyper-innovative San Francisco duo MATMOS. The album is a series of 10 "sound portraits" of people MATMOS admire, a musical attempt at biography.
Those portrayed include legendary DJ LARRY LEVAN: LA punk casualty DARBY CRASH, notorious UK producer JOE MEEK, author WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS, VALERIE SOLANES (the women who shot ANDY WARHOL) and of course KING LUDWIG II OF BAVARIA. Accompanying each musical portrait is a visual portrait by artists DAN CLOWES, ADAM ANSELL AND JASON MECIER. Portraits are printed on cardstock, inserted in a die-cut digipak allowing the listener to select their own cover.
ANTONY (WITHOUT THE JOHNSONS), BJORK, KALONICA MCQUESTEN, LAETITIA SONAMI, MAJA RATJKE and others provide guest vocals and cameo speeches on the album . One of the most respected classical quartet's worldwide appear on the album, KRONOS QUARTET.
