From the ethereal to intricate picking to completely free rocking, Scott DuBois can handle all with aplomb. On his latest recording Blackhawk Dance, DuBois' gives equal emphasis to all these elements but with his own unique signature which focuses on overall composition while avoiding histrionics. Blackhawk Dance is Scott Dubois second recording for Sunnyside and shows his development as both a composer and bandleader. The band consists of some of the leading figures in contemporary music including saxophonist/bass clarinetist Gebhard Ellmann, bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Kresten Osgood. These experienced musicians tackle DuBois' music with enthusiasm, exploring all textures and dynamics to the fullest.
