Following on the success of Andr Rieu, this CD takes some of his models and puts them on a well-filled 2CD set celebrating the lushly recorded orchestras of a bygone era. The 1950s and 1960s was a time when the great studio orchestras flourished. Mantovani, Frank Chacksfield, Ronnie Aldrich, Eric Rogers, Stanley Black - they all recorded for DECCA, and Mantovani (together with Vera Lynn) was responsible for some of the company's biggest sales in those decades. They played popular hits of the era, both new songs as well as lush arrangements of existing ones, and their influence was far-reaching - most notably, in our time, on Andre Rieu.
