Nebraska-born singer-songwriter Josh Rouse blends American roots music, contemporary folk, alt-pop, and indie rock into a sound that, refreshingly, defies easy categorization. With evocative songwriting, unvarnished emotion, an eloquent sense of longing and warm-hearted authenticity, Rouse has steadily won critical raves and built a devoted following ever since his '98 debut album Dressed Up Like Nebraska was released on Rykodisc subsidiary Slow River a decade ago. Spanning 1998-2005 with 32 cuts over 2CDs , the acclaimed singer-songwriter's first ever compilation collects hits & favourites and previously unreleased tracks from Josh's personal treasure-filled vaults.
Disc 1 features 19 favorites culled from the Slow River and Rykodisc releases Dressed Up Like Nebraska ('98), Chester ('99), Home ('00), Under Cold Blue Stars ('02), 1972 ('03), and Nashville ('04).
Disc 2 opens with the six-songs that comprised Rouse's 2001 EP Bedroom Classics, Vol. 1, pressed in a limited edition of only 750 copies and now an impossible-to-find collectible. Also features 7 previously unreleased recordings *
