Godspeed! You Black Emperor may do this stuff with more venom and intensity (they kinda scare me and amuse me at the same time...), but these guys do it out of sheer love - you can see it in their beards and hear it in the grooves. QOTSA had to head out into the desert to loosen up this much - these guys probably just lit up another one and 'felt the vibes'. Marc Bolan would be MOST impressed (especially on 'Druganaut')...as would Tony Iommi... and Mick Ronson... and Damo Suzuki...
Check magical 70s sloganeering like "the war machine keeps on rolling" and wonder 'is their tongue planted firmly in their cheek'? or are these guys damaged goods? Screw that - if they're damaged goods then they're EVEN MORE made for these times!
