As the title suggests, 'Boogie!' is a double CD celebration of the blues-based rock sounds that dominated Australian music in the early 70s and onwards. It is the first compilation to comprehensively cover this music, which was THE sound of young Australia in the '70s. The 44-track collection features original cover art by Ian McCausland, who designed iconic cover and poster art for the likes of Daddy Cool, Chain and the Rolling Stones back in the day, as well in-depth liner notes by Jen Jewel Brown who, as Jenny Brown and Jenny Hunter-Brown, was one of the most incisive Australian rock critics of the day. It was compiled by David Laing, who anthologised Australian garage rock of the punk-era and beyond with the acclaimed 'Do The Pop!' compilation some years ago.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A lost chance, a real ST***UP anthony forehan on 11.11.2012 What a bloody disappointment!!! The ad said ,"not just a tired old collection of the same stuff you've heard before" I'm sorry, but it damn well is!!!! Very little is rare to collectors of OZ Rock and I just feel that the vaults at Festival Records were haphazardly plundered by people who really have little knowledge or real interest in this era of australian music. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Missing the point Trevor Blainey on 05.12.2012 Trawling through the singles of these artists totally misses the point of retro compilations like these. In very few cases are these the best tracks from these artists. There are a few gems though (Backlash Blues by Wendy Saddington being one very good 'get') but too few to stump up the lolly for this. those of us who saw these artists live will have to dust off the memories some other way. |
