'Child In Time' was the first album by Ian Gillan after his departure from Deep Purple in 1973. The Ian Gillan Band comprised Ian Gillan himself, Ray Fenwick (guitar), John Gustafson (bass), Mike Moran (keyboards), and Mark Nauseef (drums). Released in July 1976, it reached # 55 in the UK album chart and shows the band pursuing a jazz rock direction. The title track is an amazing reworking of the Deep Purple classic from "Deep Purple In Rock".
