The Junior Varsity may have grown out of the same field as some of their Illinois indie rock contemporaries, but the leaves they sprout areof a different color. They have crafted a style of rock that embraces elements of psychedelic prog and bittersweet pop.They have created analbum of substance, not clich singles, a true piece of art. Now, on their newest record Cinematographic, they continue to push themselvesand their audience with a fresh collection of forward thinking, gorgeous melodies.The new record favours a lush, hook-laden, pop-rock sound not far removed from such artists as THE POLICE, COUNTING CROWS or LEDZEPPELIN. Their influences are very broad, making it difficult to pinpoint where the band is coming from, yet that also makes it more excitingto see where the band is heading. In a way, THE JUNIOR VARSITY is ready to lead a new revolution with this new record.
