While he's gone on to celebrity status and is known as one of the most consistent - and sometimes controversial - public figures in Australia, it's easy to forget (but important not to) that Normie Rowe was one of our first pop successes. During the 1960s, when new pop and rock music were truly finding their feet, Rowe and his band the Playboys sat alongside the likes of Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs, the Easybeats and Ronnie Burns, carving new territory both musically and popularly. The Early Anthology is the definitive collection of Rowe work from the 60s and early 70s - over 60 songs which more than showcase Normie's personal style and particular charms.
