Escapade was written, recorded and released while Tim Finn was still a member of Split Enz. It was an incredibly successful debut for Finn as a solo recording artist, spawning three hit singles - Fraction Too Much Friction, Made My Day and Staring at the Embers. The album itself reached Number Seven in the National Album Charts in 1983 and was still lingering in the Top 20 a year later, the same time Split Enz's album, Conflicting Emotions, made it to Number 13.
