Evanescence - Evanescence 'What You Want' deals with heady concepts, a trait that's readily apparent throughout the new album. "It's about freedom - that's definitely a constant theme on the record? Lee says, "and the chorus - 'remember who you really are' - that's exactly everything you could assume it means."

It's been nearly four years since Evanescence finished touring in support of their 'The Open Door' album, but now they are officially back with a brand new self titled album scheduled for release through Wind Up Records. The album features the roaring new single 'What You Want' which was recorded in Nashville's Blackbird Studios and produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, RUSH, Deftones). Frontwoman Amy Lee describes the song as being "really different" from anything in the band's back catalogue. 'What You Want' is most definitely a departure, the guitars buzz like a hornet's nest, the drums are pounding and primal, and the strings (arranged by Beck's father, David Campbell) swell and stab. Throw in a positively massive chorus and Lee's beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, and poignant piano, and you've got a powerful song. 'What You Want' deals with heady concepts, a trait that's readily apparent throughout the new album. "It's about freedom - that's definitely a constant theme on the record? Lee says, "and the chorus - 'remember who you really are' - that's exactly everything you could assume it means." Evanescence broke onto the scene with the release of 'Fallen' in 2003.

Nice Return Album

Nick B on 21.09.2011

I have had a chance to listen to the album already and I can say that it is great. There are some really good songs on it. Sure it's very different to previous albums, but it shows they are evolving. Evanescence are not Amy, Ben and Dave any more :) Highlights for me are: "My Heart is Broken", "Lost In Paradise", "Erase This" and the Electronic sounding Ballad "Swimming Home." Definitely worth a listen!
