With her seventh solo album, KRISTIN HERSH now has a body of work stretching back two decades to when her band the Throwing Muses tossed the angst-ridden teenage lead-singer directly into the 'college-rock' spotlight. 'Learn to Sing Like a Star' is a big, spacious, sumptuous record with emphatic energy, stripped ballads, deceptively breezy upbeat numbers and dreamy tunes. Several of the songs on the album deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (she previously lived in New Orleans). The album features beautiful strings played by Kristin's British friends Martin and Kim McCarrick, Throwing Muses' David Narcizo supplies the drums (and also the album cover, starring Kristin's lips!) while Kristin plays everything else. 'Learn to Sing Like a Star' is produced by Kristin & mixed by Grammy Award winning producer and engineer Trina Shoemaker (Queens Of The Stone Age, Something For Kate, Sheryl Crow, Whiskeytown, Emmylou Harris).
