It has been three long years since 26 year old Daniel Merriweather swapped the streets of Melbourne and his native Australia for the cosmopolitan bustle of Manhattan, downtown NYC. The long trip began with his huge debut solo single "City Rules" (produced by Mark Ronson and featuring raps from New York MC Saigon), which quickly became a favourite in Australian clubs and urban music circles; and went on to win an ARIA award. His rise to international prominence gathered speed when Daniel featured as the emotive voice of the Mark Ronson produced chart-busting cover of The Smiths 'Stop Me', the lead track from his chart topping 'Version' album. Daniel is, however, anything but a set of rent-a-pipes and this, his debut album 'Love & War', will rapidly tear up any pre-conceived ideas of what and who he is, as will five minutes in his company. The first single Change from this hotly anticipated Mark Ronson produced new album was no 3 most added single to radio on week of service and since has been on heavy rotation on the Today Network, Nova (across the board nationally), Triple J (heavy rotation) and MTV (Just Hatched).One of Australia's brightest talents, Daniel is now doing the business in US and the UK, where Change stormed the UK charts a few weeks back, reaching # 8.
