Perhaps you've never heard of Czechoslovakia's Plastic People Of The Universe, but they remain one of eastern Europe's most celebrated, notorious and influential bands. Back in the '70s, they were banned by their communist govt. and would rehearse in secret at future Czech president Vaclav Havel's farm, with recordings snuck out to the West for release. Even moreso is how GREAT their music was, like a combination of the Velvet Underground, the Fugs and the Mothers Of Invention all rolled into one. This double CD set of their best material ca. 1969-'85 isessential for anyone fascinated in rock's left field.
