California natives ALTAMONT are the brainchild of Dale Crover, drummer of the MELVIN'S. Having come together in the mid-90's in San Francisco, Dale explains the reason for the alternate outlet, "I had just bought my dream guitar, a '57 Les Paul Goldtop," says Dale. "It cost me good money, so I figured I'd better put it to good use." ... And ALTAMONT was born. Dale recruited his friends Dan Southwick on bass, and Joey Osbourne (Acid King) on drums. You can certainly hear the heavy 70's influences throughout Monkees' Uncle.

Aardvark Sessions 2011, The: Connected Lines $11.99 (AUD) | $16.99 (AUD) | $19.99 (AUD) | $24.99 (AUD) In 1969, Alex Chilton, the former lead singer of the chart-topping Box Tops entered Ardent Studios in Memphis to make an album. He was a couple of years away from forming Big Star, but these, his first solo recordings - eventually released in the 1990s as 1970 - display the same skills and idiosyncrasies that would characterise his career right up until his untimely death in 2010. |
