Nick Cave formed the Bad Seeds following the end of his previous band Birthday Party. The Bad Seeds brought together former Birthday Party guitarist Mick Harvey (drums), ex-Magazine bassist Barry Adamson, and Einsturzende Neubauten guitarist Blixa Bargeld. Digitally re-mastered and remixed for 5.1 Surround Sound for the first time since the original release. This deluxe edition contains the re-mastered stereo album, the new surround mix, a specially commissioned short film by UK artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard plus the b-sides from the singles, videos and exclusive sleeve notes. Murder Ballads features songs about death and violence including the opener "Song of Joy" about the murder of three children and their mother in a shocking fash-ion. The Bad Seeds cleverly alternate their sound between Blues, Country and Jazz. Features duets with Kylie Minogue (Where the wild roses grow) and PJ Harvey (Henry Lee).
