Daryl Hall and longtime cohort John Oates return to their roots after a successful 30 year career, for this live concert DVD. Filmed on beautiful Harbour Island, in the Bahamas, a long way from their Philadelphia roots, this concert has a very laid back Island feel to it, but the musical performance is fantastic. This 81 minute concert features a couple of original Hall & Oates songs, but the rest is a tribute to some of Philadelphia soul and Motown's best, including Aretha Franklin, Barry White, The Four Tops and The Stylistics, each song featuring fresh arrangements by the duo, and their rock solid band, with long time collaborators T. Bone Wolk on guitar and bass and Charlie De Chant on horns. The concert opens with a rousing performance of The Four Tops hit 'Standing In the Shadows of Love. Other highlights include a lively arrangement of the soft rock ballad 'I Can Dream About You', and the breezy pop styled number 'Love TKO'. Their rendition of The Spinners' classic 'I'll Be Around' features swirling synthesized strings and Daryl Hall's evocative vocals. The showcase of the concert is the band's funky, soulful, performance of Aretha Franklin's hit 'Rock Steady'. Daryl Hall delivers a stunning vocal tribute on Barry White's hit 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love', and some great falsetto tones in The Stylistics' classic 'You Are Everything'.
