Pete Best Of The Beatles is the untold story of the world's most famous band's formative years as seen through the eyes of original Beatle drummer Pete Best. See and hear how it really was in Liverpool and Hamburg at the time when the band redefined the vanguard, and of course, how it all went horribly wrong for the 5th Beatle, Pete Best, just as they grasped the golden apple.Viewers will hear for the very first time Pete's story, his pivotal role in forming The Beatles and how he survived a very public nightmare, all illustrated with a variety of music, archive and interviews, some of which has never been seen before. Pete's story reveals it to have been an unlikely chain of events that led him to become the drummer in The Beatles in the first place: his mum, the formidable Mona, pawned all her jewellery and placed a 33/1 bet on a horse called 'Never Say Die'. The horse won and so the story began. She bought her dream home and sent Pete, his brothers and 'friends' into the basement to socialise and play their music. From this, The Casbah Coffee Club was born, a club, which became Beatle H.Q., an intimate space that each Beatle helped to create and paint, and so the legend began. To the wild revelry of playing the clubs on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg Germanys red light district, the beginning of Beatle mania, recording for Polydor, stamping their authority as Liverpool's number one group by winning the Mersey Beat Poll, signing to their manager Brian Epstein, the Decca Records rejection, meeting George Martin, signing for Parlophone, recording "Love Me Do" at Abbey Road Studios, and finally the dismissal from The Beatles.
