James Valentine, broadcaster, writer and tenor saxophonist is proud to announce the release his latest CD, The Power and Passion - Standards From the Great Australian Songbook. Using only the tenor saxophone, the piano, the double bass and the drums, James has had a shot at songs by Midnight Oil, The Divinyls, The Church, The Triffids and Crowded House. He's taken great Australian songs such as 'The Real Thing', 'Flame Trees', and 'Throw Your Arms Around Me', and like his jazz forebears did before him with the tunes of their day, he's played them on his horn. James has been a beloved afternoon presenter on ABC 702 Sydney since the 90s, was a reporter and commentator on shows such as Sunrise and It Takes Two. He's played saxophone for many Australian greats, most notably The Models.
